Over the last 26 years the Walsh Jesuit Ironman tournament has been held at Walsh Jesuit high school in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. This tournament is known as one of the top three in-season high school tournaments in the country, along with the Powerade Wrestling Tournament and the Beast of the East. Many of the top programs in the country send their wrestlers to this tournament to compete individually and as a team. This year’s Ironman tournament was held from December 13th-14th.
Ohio had been well represented at the Ironman tournament with over 230 athletes registered. Throughout the last two days, athletes from all over the country competed until a handful remained for the finals. Even with elite wrestlers from all over the country competing in this tournament Ohio has proven they continue to produce elite wrestling talent. Out of this group of finalists, Ohio State currently has commitments from Seth Shumate and Paddy Gallagher. Ohio State continues to recruit Voinovich but it may be an uphill battle because Ohio State currently has Sasso on the roster with Anthony Echemendia and Paddy Gallagher committed.
